frequently asked questions
Why should I choose from food to faith?
By approaching your war with food from the physical, emotional, and spiritual perspectives, through personal one-on-one coaching, From Food to Faith offers help and hope like no other program.
Most of the world focuses on the physical, or tangible things such as what, when and how you should eat or exercise. But let’s face it, if it were just a math problem, we would all be our ideal weight by now! Many recognize that our beliefs, thoughts and emotions play a big part in our relationships with food. But there are few who understand the role that faith plays in our ability to reach our full potential.

Why do I have to sign up for 6 months at a time?
Making permanent lifestyle changes takes time. It is a serious commitment. You didn't develop destructive habits overnight, and you won't replace them with healthy ways of thinking and living overnight either. A six-month commitment sets you up to succeed. giving you enough time to see progress, and develop habits that will last a lifetime.
What If I don't live near you?
I do my coaching using an online video-conferencing tool called Zoom. The only equipment you need is a computer with a webcam and microphone. The software is quick and easy to install and costs you nothing.
What if I have to miss aN Appointment?
From time to time, life gets in the way. So while I strongly encourage you to participate each week, if you give at least 24 hours notice, we will work to reschedule at a time that works for us both.
What if I am not a person of faith?
Faith is not only a principle of religion, it is the opposite of fear. Faith brings a spirit of optimism and hope. Faith is a principle of action.
Faith in something bigger than ourselves…that which I call God…gives a greater perspective on who we are, why we are here, and the purpose of our lives that helps us approach our challenge with food with added perspective, optimism and hope. From Food to Faith is not a religious program, though I will be sharing how my faith has added great value and insight to my journey as I feel it applies, and I invite you to do the same.

Do you have a food plan?
I discovered these truths many years ago…long before I was able to follow them…through personal prayer, a study of the scriptures, and an observation of the world. These are universal truths. I share them with you as I have learned to understand them, and have seen them work in my life and the lives of others.
1. Honor your body’s hunger and fullness.

1. Honor your body’s hunger and fullness.
- Food is for fuel and flavor. Using food for any other purpose is emotional eating.
- If you are using food for something other than fuel or flavor, Figure out what that food is doing for you. Use the opportunity to discover what beliefs are emotions you are trying to comfort or distract.
- Give yourself the gift of enjoying every bite.
- If you find you’re eating outside of hunger, be curious. Learn from everything.
- Eating mindfully allows you to recognize your body’s signals of not only hunger and fullness, but also which emotions you are experiencing, like sadness or loneliness.
- There are no “good” or “bad” foods. Labeling foods as “bad” only creates judgment of ourselves, and gets in the way of learning to trust ourselves, and becoming in tune with our physical, emotional and spiritual needs. It also creates cravings when we believe that we will never have our “special foods” again. All foods are good when they help our bodies and spirits thrive.
- Food is for fuel and for taste.
- Food is a gift from God and is a blessing in our lives.
- Our bodies were created with incredible systems, capable of letting us know what nourishes us, and what doesn’t help us meet our needs. In time, you will learn to tune into these signals, and to trust them.
- Treat yourself with the same love and respect you would a young child or a person you care about, who is struggling to overcome a difficult challenge. Believe in yourself.
- Care for your body in a way that will allow you to have the richest, fullest quality of life.
- Don’t play the Shame Game. No one ever grew through shame or guilt. Rather than shaming, be intensely curious. Everything that happens in your life has the power to enhance or limit you. Learn from each experience, and you will find yourself changing from the inside out.
- At some point, an unhealthy relationship with food served you. It may have numbed your fears or loneliness. Eventually, it became a burden you no longer need. Learning how to trust in something bigger than food will take time, practice, and patience.

Will i lose weight?
Whether you are above or below your natural weight, eating naturally will help you improve your health. Sometimes this means losing weight. Sometimes it means gaining weight. The important thing is to focus on the healthy practices that will bring your life the greatest quality of life. This takes time, practice and patience, and I encourage you to not focus on the size of your body or the number on a scale, as doing so will only perpetuate your unhealthy relationship with food. Remember that the journey is the goal. Focus on finding peace with yourself, and peace with food.
Can I do this in conjunction with my diet?
From Food to Faith focuses on learning the skills of intuitive eating - learning to trust the internal cues of our bodies, rather than the external rules and restrictions of diets. Diets are often the cause of our war with food. Therefore, we encourage you come into the program with the mindset of putting weight loss on the back burner until you have developed a peaceful relationship with food. d
if it works, why doesn't everyone do it?
Unfortunately, we live in a world that has largely chosen to believe that we are nothing more than “happy accidents”, trying to find a little pleasure in the few years we have to exist. We are constantly surrounded by messages that the answers to all of life’s problems are found in having the perfect body. Unfortunately, many of us waste year after year before finally realizing these as the lies they are.
In the journey to end our war with food, we will need to explore and heal the limiting beliefs…the emotional and spiritual struggles we have been avoiding through our disordered use of food. At first glance, this can seem more threatening than destroying our bodies ever did. Many fear they are not capable of solving such problems. Therefore, they continue to move from diet to diet, and binge to binge, seeking for relief where there is none.

how will I know if I'm making progress?
There are many ways to measure your progress. Recognizing improvements in your beliefs, thoughts and actions will bring great satisfaction and peace. The more consistent these changes become, the more you bless your body with energy and improved health.
